Mesa native touts Salmon's conservative record, proven leadership and experience
EAST VALLEY - Former Congressman and candidate for Arizona's 5th congressional district Matt Salmon today announced the endorsement of Utah Senator Mike Lee. Senator Lee, a native of Mesa, Arizona, released the following statement regarding his support for Salmon's campaign:
"I am proud to support Matt Salmon in his quest to return to Congress. Matt has a proven track record of fighting for conservative principles, limited government and fiscal responsibility, and his experience and leadership will greatly benefit his district and our nation. I look forward to working with him in Congress to return America on the path to prosperity."
Former Congressman Salmon stated, "I am grateful for the support from Senator Mike Lee. Senator Lee is a true champion of our Constitution and a solid defender of its principles in the U.S. Senate. About Senator Mike Lee
Elected in 2010 as Utah's 16th Senator, Mike Lee has spent his career defending the basic liberties of Americans and Utahns as a tireless advocate for our founding constitutional principles. Lee fights to preserve America's proud founding document in the United States Senate. He advocates efforts to support constitutionally limited government, fiscal responsibility, individual liberty, and economic prosperity.
Lee is a member of the Judiciary Committee, and serves as ranking Member of the Antitrust, Competition Policy and Consumer Rights Subcommittee protecting business competition and personal freedom. He also oversees issues critical to Utah as the top Republican on the Water and Power Subcommittee of the Energy and Natural Resources Committee. He serves on the Foreign Relations Committee and the Joint Economic Committee, as well. Earlier in his career, Lee had the honor of serving as a Clerk for Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito.
About Matt Salmon
Matt Salmon was first elected to the United States Congress in 1994 and served until 2000, honoring his term limit pledge. A proud conservative, Salmon was rated in the top five among all 535 members of the House and Senate by Citizen's Against Government Waste for all six years he was in office. He is a lifetime member of the NRA with an A+ rating and also earned a 100% rating by the National Right to Life. He was also the proud recipient of the American Cancer Society's "Top National Elected Official" award.
